Youth Wins Third Annual Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout


Junior Angler Emory Haynie, age 14, from Reedville, Virginia wins big in the Third Annual Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout while fishing on the Chesapeake Angler Magazine Boat. The crew of Chesapeake Angler in a 23 May-craft CC powered by Johnson made their way up north to the 4A Buoy at the mouth of the Chesapeake bay. The Angler's slow trolled live eels on day one and day two.

The first day in the area produced just two fish. The largest being 20.50 pounds. During the second day in the same area the first bite came at 12:15pm, and it was the big fish that every angler dreams about, 50.65 pounds, 49 inches. The Chesapeake Angler Magazine entry took home over $23,500 in cash and prizes. The Fishing tournament had over 145 boats and crews fishing out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
